今日は姉弟揃って２つのピアノコンクールの全国大会に進むことになった小学生の子たちにスペシャルレッスンを行いました。
２人とも幼い頃からピアノを学んできただけあって、ちゃんとピアノを弾く手ができており、テクニックもしっかりしています。
今回のレッスンでもコンクールに向けてたくさん練習してきた成果がよくわかりました。が、それだけに曲に慣れすぎてしまったのか、手癖だけで弾いてしまっている部分もあり…本当は少し寝かせておく期間があってもいいかと思いましたがコンクールはもうすぐ。
対処法として、とにかくゆっくりの練習、メトロノームに合わせての練習、自分の音をよく聴く事などアドバイスしました。

精神面・気持ち・テクニックの総合的なピークを本番にピッタリ合わせていくのも演奏家としての難しさです。
本選では賞など気にせず、自分なりの表現、演奏ができることを祈ります。

I gave special piano lessons to siblings, both of whom passed the preliminaries of 2 piano competitions and will go to the finals in Tokyo in this month and next month.
They have the PIANO HANDS and amazing piano techniques because they’ve been learning piano since they were kids, and I could see that they’ve devoted themselves to practice for the competitions at today’s lesson. Because of their hard work, however, I felt they were playing pieces by force of habit like an autopilot. I think it could be solved by taking a break from practicing for a while to make the pieces “aged” like wine. But the competition is around the corner. I gave some advise they practice at slower tempo with a metronome and listen carefully to the piano sound they make.
It’s hard for any musicians, performers and athletes to peak for the stage performances, but I believe they will do their best at the competition.
